Long Term Care Division - What We're All About

Long Term Care givers in America often receive poverty-level wages, little training and no health coverage, conditions that force nearly 100 percent turnover. SEIU District 1199’s Long Term Care members are folks who work in nursing homes, home care, mental health and MRDD. By joining SEIU District 1199, long term caregivers unite with residents, clients and their families, advocates, community leaders and elected officials to win new and better standards for America’s LTC facilities including:

  • Safe staffing levels that are easy to understand and enforce
  • Reasonable case loads that allow for quality services
  • Comprehensive training
  • Careers for caregivers with benefits and wages that help attract and keep qualified staff
  • State and federal funding systems that reward and encourage safe staffing and good working conditions.

Our members work and live in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky, serving a quickly growing population that needs long term care. We dedicate ourselves to providing the best quality care possible and raising standards. To provide the best possible care for your family members, the most vulnerable members in our communities, we must also be able to care for ourselves and our families.
